April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, started taking lessons on piano and guitar at seven years old. The passion for writing songs was ignited. In April, when she was 12 years old when she wrote her first single Different. As April approached 14 years old, she dedicated an enormous amount of time creating song ideas and perfecting her music. The songwriting began with her dad in NY and LA shortly after. April started to include other subjects in the book, Take My Hand, for her friends who were dealing with disabilities, peer pressure or suicide. Lockhart works in partnerships at famous cosmetics brand Ilia as well as an influencer in the lifestyle industry with a huge following of her own. Lockhart was never born with a left-hand, which is what makes her what she is. However, that's not the whole story. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny the fact that she has a disability. But it also doesn't make it a point to emphasize it. It's a message. The message is that we are more than the physical person we are. Our identities are multifaceted and we contain many different elements. Lockhart speaks through video from Nashville. "I don't want it to define my life. I do not want to only be identified as a specialist in disability. My day-today life is not directly affected by disability. I lead a normal daily life, and come up with myself solutions for problems. Because it's part of who I am, it's something that's worthy of discussion. Lockhart has served as an excellent source of inspiration for her female friends with regards to acceptance of oneself. Still, she admits that she went through a series of phases regarding her appearance, feeling insecure at times to wear clothes that showed her arms. The woman now puts on whatever clothes she wants and posts pictures on Facebook with pride. The journey itself is what I'm not certain that you ever arrive she says of self-love. This is true for everyone, regardless of their insecurity. It's vital to surround yourself those who can discern and understand your heart.
