When I had a baby at my side and other children within the cradle was working 12 hour shifts sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! All was beginning to fall in place, yet there was still a long way to go. In this undertaking I had planned to shell out a substantial amount of money and spend time looking for my dream house. To keep my budget sound, I travelled with my 3 boys looking for deals at estate sales. The routine we had for the week was to spend Thursday-Saturday walking through estate sales and garage sales buying a mixture of vintage and modern pieces, and then I would spend the weekdays painting sanding in the driveway. It was a bit like this... That's when my interest in restoring furniture began. After our home was fully furnished, I could not put it down! There was an area in the market that I could sell my items. I was able to outgrow the market because I had many more pieces than I was able to use. My home became a place that I hosted open houses. Up to 1,000 people could view the items on my first floor before purchasing these items. Growing Days is the result from this. The business wasn't just thriving but I was growing our family of four. As a young mom I was able to strike the right balance to both start my own company and being a decent mother. Growing Days was the obvious option. Nora my 4th child was born in 2013. While I was pleased about the direction my company was taking, I realized that I needed to take an occasional break. I took a break from vintage furniture to spend some quality time with my children. In the beginning, this was exactly what I needed. But after a couple of months off the phone started to call. They asked for my assistance in decorating and renovations. A majority of these were the ones who had strolled through my house during furniture open houses! Then I slowly took on clients in my own way. Soon I had multiple clients and I was running as a home improvement business. It would have probably amused me if I had told you that this was going to be the subject of an DIY Network tv series. Actually, I smile slightly when I recall the story.
